Post-Pot Banter Between Freddy Deeb and Jason Burt

Level 20: 12,000-24,000, 3,000 ante

After Freddy Deeb called down Jason Burt's failed bluff, the two engaged in quite a conversation.

Jason Burt:  "Let me know when you show to Commerce with all the money you won."

Freddy Deeb:  "Is that a heads-up invitation?"

Burt:  "Sure."

Deeb:  "You don't have enough money to play with me."

Burt:  "I can raise the money."

Deeb pauses for about 20 seconds, where it seems like the conversation has ended. But then Deeb offers some advice: "Don't act like Phil Hellmuth." Deeb goes off on a little rant for about a minute, comparing Burt's comments with those of Hellmuth after a player sucks out on him.

Eventually, Deeb backs off from his earlier comments and says, "I don't know who you are. I might have to borrow money to play you." Burt laughs, and the demeanor of the table improves.

Deeb offers some empathy at the end, saying, "It's not a good feeling, to lose half a million, especially this late in a big tournament. I know how you feel." Deeb then asks, "What is your name?"

Burt:  "Jason."

Deeb:  "Nice to meet you, Jason. My name's Freddy."

Burt laughs, as he (like almost everyone in poker) knows who Freddy Deeb is. After a few more relaxed comments, Deeb even invites Burt to his house for barbecue if they do end up playing at Commerce someday.

Deeb Makes a Big Call

Level 20: 12,000-24,000, 3,000 ante

Jason Burt raises on the button and Freddy Deeb reraises to 200,000 out of the small blind.  Burt calls and the two see a flop of 9diamond7diamond4club.  Both players check and the turn comes Jdiamond, putting a third diamond on the board.  Deeb checks his cards before checking once again.  Burt bets out 285,000 and Deeb calls.

The river is the 5heart and Deeb checks a third time.  Burt deliberates for a while before betting out 330,000, leaving just over half a million behind.  Deeb thinks briefly before calling and waits for Burt to turn up his card.  Burt shows AclubTclub for ace high.

"Pair of sevens," Freddy announces, turning up Kdiamond7heart.  He takes down the sizeable pot and now trails only Jason Lavallee on the chip counts.

Level 18: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante

After a flop of AdiamondAspade8club, Freddy Deeb bets 75,000, and Terry Ryan very confidently pushes his half-stacks of chips into the pot in a messy all-in move. Deeb says, "Alright, you got me. Very good."

Deeb folds, and Ryan proudly flips over Kclub5diamond for a king-high bluff. The table congratulates Ryan on the bluff, though Deeb seems a little peeved.

Level 17: 6,000-12,000, 1,000 ante

Freddy Deeb doubles through Dee Luong when his pocket aces hold up against her pocket kings and she is left with only 87,000 chips.

Freddy Deeb - 1,230,000
Dee Luong - 87,000

After the hand Dee jokingly tells the table, "Aw man, now I am going to bust out before Prahlad."  She is referring to her husband, Prahlad Friedman, who is still in with 250,000 chips.

A few hands later Jason Lavallee opens for a raise and Luong moves all-in from the big blind.  Lavallee calls and tables Aheart8heart,which is racing against Luong's 6club6spade.  The board runs out AdiamondJspade3spade7diamond8spade and Lavallee pairs his ace to eliminate Luong and take the pot.

Jason Lavallee raises to 25,000 from early position and Freddy Deeb calls from the cut off.  The flop comes Aspade7spade6club and both players check.  The turn pairs the board with the Adiamond.  Lavallee bets out 41,000 and Deeb min raises to 82,000. Lavallee makes the call.

The river brings the 5club and the hand gets checked down.  Lavallee shows AclubQclub and Deeb mucks his hand.  Lavallee drags in the pot, putting him over the million chip mark.
